The Rhode Island School
of the Future sponsors and produces several events during the year.

ROBOTICS PARK - This
yearly event, which we believe to be the largest K-12 robotics event
in the country, is traditionally held on a Saturday in April, during National
Science and Technology month, and is the culminating event of the
school-year for RISF schools and classrooms.
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE - The
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a national robotics competition. Each
year the RISF facilitates a state championship tournament. In this event, 9-14
year olds are given the opportunity to build a robot and compete
in a friendly, FIRST-style robotics event.
JUNIOR FIRST LEGO LEAGUE - The Junior FIRST Lego League (JFLL) Expo is geared to children aged 6 to 9 years old and utilizes a modified FIRST LEGO League (FLL) framework. Teams of up to 6 children and an adult mentor receive a mini challenge, based on the annual FLL research project. Teams celebrate and share their experience with other teams, family and friends at the JFLL Expo which takes place at Robotics Park in the spring.
TEACHER WORSHOPS - Every
summer the RISF holds week-long robotics workshops for teachers
and classroom volunteers. During the school-year additional one
day workshops may be offered.
MONTHLY RISF COMMUNITY
OF PRACTICE MEETINGS - Each school-year from October through April,
RISF participants come together to plan RISF events, learn new concepts
and to share their practices.
