Rubbish Robot Round-Up

Rubbish Robot Round-up
(Grades K-4)

We are issuing a Robot Rubbish Round-up Challenge again this year for students in grades K-4. There are two parts to this challenge, a construction/design part and a writing part. Your task is to build a free-standing (or sitting) robot that is made from discarded materials. This robot must be at least the average height of the students in your group or classroom. You may purchase glue, tape or other fasteners but that is all! This robot must be transportable and be displayed at Robotic Park to qualify for awards.

The second part of this challenge is to write a creative story about your robot. Introduce us to your robot. What is its purpose or function? Where does it function? What problems does it encounter in its environment? How does it attempt to solve its problems? Your story must be no more than one page long. It must be word-processed in font no smaller than 12 pt. Each robot should have only one story. Multiple entries to Rubbish Robot Round-up are allowed from a classroom.

Each robot will need to be labeled clearly with its name, the school name, the teacher/s name, the grade/s level and the names of its creators and the average height of those in the group or class.

Judging will take place and awards will be given in the following categories:
